DIY Sequin Cake Topper

DIY Sequin Cake topper.

This is the perfect DIY to make for your upcoming New Years Eve party!

A simple but full on sparkle cake topper, that will get everyone into the party spirit!

I made these before for a party but thought they finally deserved their own DIY tutorial as they are so fantastic.

You will need:

  • Sequins
  • Glue Gun
  • Kebab Sticks
  • Baking paper

Step one:

Lay down a piece of greaseproof paper. Draw your desired cake topper shape with hot glue. You could do letters or numbers or simple shapes, I’ve gone for a simple heart.

If you think I’m being sassy by using Glitter glue sticks instead of clear, I’m not i just ran out of clear ones! Drama! However, glitter ones do mean less work for you as they look pretty by themselves!

Step Two:

Layer up the glue, then add in your kebab stick and continue to layer glue on top to secure it.

Step Three:

Sprinkle sequins into the hot glue before it drys making sure you have an even coverage.

Step Four:

Leave the glue to set completely and cool so that you can peel the cake topper off from the baking paper.

Turn it over and add more layers of glue then sequins to finish it off.

Here’s some I made last year for a party!

Ta da! Pop your cake topper into the top of a cake for a fabulous centre piece! You could always make mini sequin cake toppersĀ on cocktail sticks for cupcakes!
